SPACE
A Few Important Elements to Visually Enhance It!

We are a commodity-based society. Simply put it means we like stuff and lots of it. Therefore, few people will ultimately boast and say they have enough space. Whether it’s a growing family or demanding business, it seems that more items are just necessary to keep us all afloat.
With computers, trends are moving toward a greener, friendlier environment. Although a paperless environment remains next to impossible for the majority of us, take baby steps toward a sustainable environment.
“STAY SMALL” making a space assessment. Tidy up; remove clutter; reorganize furnishings. Usually lack of space is a direct result of poor storage. Belongings require a permanent home. As the saying goes “Everything in its Place and a Place for Everything”. In most cases we have so much more than we need.
The movement of less time and efficiencies is taking the market by storm. Selling many organization tools; storage centres, bins; now there are entire “big box” outlets, targeting solutions for only the organizationally challenged.
My take is simple. We wouldn’t require these “commodities” if we bought fewer goods in the first place. To improve space effectiveness, there are several tricks of the trade to use along the way. Here are just a few.
Ceilings – Typically ceilings are white. Add crown molding, your room will appear to grow up (literally).
Walls – If different colours are used in a band this Trompe L’oeil effect can give the illusion of extra girth. Similarly, this is why horizontal stripes are not flattering on most women.
Stripes – Any design vertically again enhances a long, lean look. (Think pinstripe suit and pointed nails) Need I say more?
Mirrors – Open up the visual focus while doubling the span and/or view.
Lighting – Amazing option to open up a dull area. Ever illuminate a small closet? You will find room you hadn’t realized existed.
