Living room after
The homeowner wanted a warm and bright bachelor pad that reflected his personality – young, playful, and distinctly masculine.
Laura started by creating a colour scheme to lighten up the space. Warm wood side tables, accent lighting, and a plush area rug complete the ... More Details »
Living room before
With little natural light and a long narrow layout, the small condo felt dark and cramped. The walls were painted a drab shade of beige, which enclosed the space and contributed to the problem.
Living room before
The homeowner wanted his condo to feel more like a home – a place where he could invite friends or relax comfortably at the end of the day.
Updated colour scheme
An off-white sofa with sophisticated detailing replaced the over-sized black leather couch. The walls were painted a creamy off-white and soft taupe to create contrast and visually open up the room. By sourcing furniture with clean lines and appropriate scale the room was... More Details »

Accents were added with bold graphic patterns in dark navy and rich brown.
Old room challenges
The room lacked sufficient storage and there was a desperate need for additional seating.
Form and function
Two sleek faux leather chairs were added, and two custom storage ottomans were designed to tuck neatly under the coffee table. Sized perfectly to store books, remotes, and video games, they can also be pulled out for additional seating when guests come over.
Kitchen before
The kitchen, situated in the main living area, was dated and in need of a face-lift. The budget for the kitchen make-over was limited, so Laura stretched the homeowner’s dollar by making changes that would be impactful without being costly.
Kitchen After
A new quartz counter (the biggest splurge) matches the colour scheme of the room and provides easier maintenance than the existing granite.
Kitchen Before
The cabinets were left in place, but the doors and drawer fronts would be replaced with a contemporary and cost-effective slab-style, all painted to match the light coloured walls.
After Kitchen2
Sleek metal door pulls were installed, and the ceramic backsplash was replaced with glass mosaic tiles found on clearance.
Before HVAC
Directly opposite the sofa, an unattractive HVAC system made for an unsightly view.
Before
Because of the way it protruded into the room, it also created a useless niche between it and the outside wall.
After
Laura solved both problems by designing custom paneling that wrapped around the HVAC and continued into the niche with built-in shelving.
After
Ventilation and hidden doors were also built in to the paneling to provide access for cleaning and maintenance. Painted the same colour as the wall, the paneled corner is now a subtle detail with useful storage rather than an obtrusive eyesore.
