Master Bedroom
Bedside Tables
May 09, 2009
Our master bedroom has a large pillar beside the head of our bed, therefore allows space for only one side table. Is it ever ok to have one bedside table for a king size bed?
Sharyn Kastelic responds...
One night stand is certainly not ideal and the pillar throws the room off balance. One solution I can think of requires a bit of extra space in the length of your room and a bit of construction. Remove the one nightstand you have and replicate the pillar on the other side of the bed. The idea is to build out the wall between the 2 pillars, say 8". Include recesses in the new wall that will function as shelves above your headboard. You could paint the new headboard wall a bright accent colour. To complete the project, add a pair of wall-mounted light fixtures (hire an electrician to hardwire them into the new wall).
