Pet-friendly flooring
What hardwood flooring is dog-friendly?
December 27, 2008
We have a hyper family dog that loves to run around the house when excited, and sometimes when he sleeps he scratches the carpet. This worries me, because I would love to have hardwood flooring, but don’t want it to get ruined by our dog.
Are there any suggestions on what flooring could work for us?
Lucy Campos-Gentile responds...
Any hardwood floor will scratch and show pet abuse, just as other traffic like dents from high heels etc. If the Design of your interiors is flexible to accept a more eclectic and casual look, you could choose a distressed finish. This option will try and integrate the damage as “character” to your space. Another great option is to go with a commercial grade flooring product, such as Karndean (visit: www.karndean.com). It’s absolutely gorgeous, very functional and durable. Good luck!
