DINING IN ASIAN / 50'S FUSION

The client ran out of steam after painting the room himself. We had chosen a paint colour that would compliment his terrific art, so we already had a great place to start. Other than the art, the only things he wanted to keep were the teak buffet hutch and his buddhas. He had picked them up during his travels in Asia.

A 50’s teak dining table was found to compliment the buffet and leather parsons chairs finish the masculine look. The two additional leather tub chairs can be brought in when the table is extended. Red silk lanterns add to the Asian feel and tie in the dominant colour of the art.

The two physical problems with the room are the window and the radiator. The window was covered with a flat roman blind in a silk that matched the walls, so it would disappear.

A cover was made for the rad and extended across the back wall. The rad disappears and a bench is created for additional seating when entertaining. Warm colours, wonderful art, and comfortable seating create a dining space to linger and enjoy a great meal and favourite company.
