WARMING UP THE LIVING ROOM

A redesign by The Expert Touch Interiors

Our clients were tired of their outdated living room which they never used because of its outdated furnishings, lack of character and charm. The room also lacked a focal point. Our goal was to create a warm and inviting environment for them that they could be happy either just relaxing in or even entertaining their friends and family in.

Warming Up the Living Room

The old, floral sofa which once sat on this wall was gifted to charity, leaving a void in this space.

Warming Up the Living Room

A local artist was hired to commission a beautiful oil painting, inspired by nature, that would bring the colour palette of the client's entire main floor together. A deep, buff coloured sofa with a wonderful, nubbly texture also helped bring comfort and warmth to the room.

Warming Up the Living Room

Two outdated wing chairs sat alone without any source of lighting for a place to sit and read by in the evenings.

Warming Up the Living Room

Newly recovered wing chairs in a black, brown and gold colour palette, coupled with newly laid, cherry-stained maple floors now lends a classic, yet elegant look and feel to the room. An oversized, antique bronze lamp with a black shade now gives drama to the room, while allowing our clients to sit in their chairs and read or entertain in the evenings.

Warming Up the Living Room

The loveseat and old side table were also gifted to charity, leaving more barren space in the room.

Warming Up the Living Room

Columns separating the living and dining rooms were once covered in a dark, wood paneling. We brought them up to date by removing the wood, dry walling and painting them in the same colour as the walls, as well as adding simple cornice moldings to the top of them.

Warming Up the Living Room

This console table originally sat by itself on the long wall of the living room with no real purpose other than to fill up the space. Once the room was rearranged, the console table (sans the benches), was used as a sofa table in behind the new loveseat and was updated with new, large-scale accessories. A sofa table in behind a loveseat (or sofa) is more attractive than viewing the back of a loveseat while sitting in a dining room, kitchen, etc...

Warming Up the Living Room

A fireplace was added to the room to create a beautiful focal point that not only looks great, but adds warmth and architectural detail - our clients now have a cozy room to relax in on a cold, wintery day!
